(Hollywood, CA) The economy has tanked, piracy and free porn are omni-present, porn parodies are being churned out by dozens of companies looking for the quick payout at the end of the rainbow yet numerous production companies, directors and performers are still without work as adult movie director Will Ryder continues to look ahead with optimism.

“The good ole days are gone but we are resigned to stay creative and polished because it’s the best way we can remain in business,” Ryder said from his bustling X-Play office high above the famous intersection of Hollywood & Vine.

“The truth is we missed the actual good ole days by a few years but we’ve had a fantastic run that we hope to continue with movies like Rocky, The Six Million Dollar Man/Bionic Woman XXX and the Wizard of Oz XXX.”

The 2010 director-of-the-year best known for the top-selling Brady Bunch series Not the Bradys XXX and newer offerings such as Not M*A*S*H XXX and Not Charlie’s Angels XXX is constantly pressured to come up with the next great idea that will attract consumer interest and ring cash registers but the reality is that the task is becoming more difficult with each passing day.

“It’s certainly challenging but the saddest part of this business for me is the dozens of girls that want to be in our movies when we just don’t have enough roles for all of them,” Ryder reflected.

Free porn has killed the market to shoot all-sex movies for all but a few really great companies eliminating many opportunities that were once flourishing.

“If they have patience we usually get around to including them in a future movie but sometimes that takes many months.”

Competition between the parody producers has never been stronger as PR people battle for porn positioning and directors attempt to outdo their contemporaries with more spectacular concepts and releases.

Directors such as Ryder’s friend Axel Braun have played a skillful cat and mouse game this past year that has propelled both movie makers towards excellence rewarding the one with the special idea that finds a connection to the consumer.  Both have had blockbusters this year.

“It’s a friendly battle out there as it feels like entire companies are at stake which makes this serious business,” Ryder remarked.  “Every time one of us ups the ante, the other wants to go all in and that is making this fun.”

Ryder continues to stay in contact with a number of legendary producers like Roy Karch, Bo Kenney and John T. Bone to get a full historical perspective of how things once were.

“They used to shoot porn when it was illegal and people were thrown in jail so no matter how tough things get today it’s not as difficult as it used to be at least from that perspective.  But as soon as I say that, look at what John Stagliano had to go through this year.  That guy deserves his happiness.”

Just like the past year in porn, 2011 will no doubt be filled with new challenges, supreme highs and difficult lows but if you love naked women there’s still no business like porn business even if getting a piece of the pie is more difficult then ever.

“But you have to admit it’s a sad day when beautiful girls are sitting at home without a movie role when they are perfectly willing to come to the set wear a wig and get banged, Ryder smiled.  “But I’ll do my best to cast them in a future movie if they just have patience.”
