(JANUARY 30, 2013) – From the red carpet to the awards show stage, Wicked Pictures took the recent 2014 XBIZ Awards Show by storm. The company’s breakout hit, Brad Armstrong’s darkly erotic jessica drake vehicle “Underworld,” swept the major film categories much as it did at the 2014 AVN Awards Show the week before, receiving no less than six major trophies. The star-studded soiree was held at the posh Century Plaza Hotel in Century City, California. In addition to starring in the evening’s most revered hit, Ms. drake was also one of the night’s featured presenters, a distinction she shared with director Axel Braun, the latest addition to Wicked’s award-winning creative team. The presence of Kaylani Lei, Samantha Saint and “Underworld” co-star Asa Akira brought Wicked style to the night’s festivities. Staying true to XBIZ magazine’s goal of “honoring the influential companies and performers who play an essential role in the growth and popularity of adult entertainment around the globe,” the evening saw “Underworld” garnering both Feature Movie of the Year and Director of the Year – Feature Release. The movie went on to receive honors in a quartet of technical arenas – Best Cinematography, Art Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects. European production powerhouse Marc Dorcel, whose work Wicked has distributed in the United States for over fifteen years, snared several of the evening’s most prestigious awards as well. The well-deserved accolades included European Studio of the Year, European Feature Release of the Year (for “Claire Castel, The Chambermaid”), European Director of the Year (Herve Bodilis), and Specialty Release of the Year for the ambitious “Kama Sutra.” Wicked’s continuing commitment to erotica for women was also acknowledged with wins in such areas as Best Actor – Couples-Themed Release (Derrick Pierce, “Tuff Love”) and Best Scene – Couples-Themed Release (Madison Ivy & Mick Blue for Jonathan Morgan’s “Hotel No Tell”). For his part, Wicked Pictures president and owner Steve Orenstein is pleased to see his filmmakers, performers and outside productions once again sweeping a major industry awards event. “While it’s true that it is an honor just to be nominated, there’s no denying winning is more enjoyable. That said, we continue to be thrilled with the recognition that “Underworld” is receiving. Also, having both Brad Armstrong and Axel Braun win director of the year in their respective categories starts 2014 on a high note for us. We are also very happy to win awards specifically for the sex scenes. It’s nice to see that the presence of a condom can be looked past, and that a strong scene is still a strong scene.” For more information about the Wicked Girls and Wicked Pictures, please visit www.wicked.com and www.wickedb2b.com.
